Über mich: My name is Thomas, also known as “Wohl Photography”. I'm a french photographer based in Berlin, Germany. My path into the visual arts began about 15 years ago, with graphic design; making flyers and posters mostly for music events. At the time, the only photos I took were in order to use my own textures and objects instead of stock photos. My graphical vision was based on a digital way to use real photos. I also worked on 3D modeling and vectors and never thought about photography as a individual way to express myself. In 2017, was the first time I got my hands on a DSLR camera, taking pictures of the children I worked with at a celebration at a children’s center. After receiving really good feedback, I began to think about investing in a proper camera. In my free time, I worked on architecture and symmetrical photography without to think about anything else. Later, I had the opportunity to participate in a workshop about nude photography and thought; actually why not, it's not really my thing at all but there is always something new to learn. Through that workshop, I came in contact with models and began to shoot more with models. Nude photography was interesting but I wanted to do more storytelling, to involve the viewer in my pictures, to create a story, to create a whole atmosphere and the nude side was not really relevant for my goals. At this point, I asked a good friend of mine, who is a professional dancer, if she would like to shoot with me. That was the starting point of everything I do now. I met other dancers and developed more artistic and defined concepts. This expanded to the opportunity to work with one of the best circus artists worldwide - Stefanie Millinger in Austria, as well as artists from the Cirque du Soleil and dancers from the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin. I work a lot on the picture composition, sometimes doing everything in camera and sometimes mixing with digital art. I pay attention to the movement; throwing things in the air, freezing an action in time, all to make the viewer feel involved in a crazy situation or to simply create a graphical or emotional effect. Nowadays, there is a whole Team behind my projects (lighting, accessories, assistants, lost place experts) and we try to realize always more cinematic pictures which represent impossible scenes. There are big projects coming along this year and I will try to push the boundaries even more in order to create a unique and impressive content. It's just the beginning.. Best wishes, Thomas Wohlgemuth
